Chrome bars are made of solid steel plated in chrome, which prevents corrosion. They are solid, very resistant and smooth, which is why they are used in power transmission in the manufacture and repair of hydraulic cylinders and rods.
There are two types of bars, normal and hardened; the normal chrome bar does not go through the hardening process where it becomes harder internally and therefore resists impacts more.
